The Clinician: Cicely Powell, LCSW
My name is Cicely Powell. I am a licensed clinical social worker in Indiana and Illinois and have been practicing social work in several capacities for 15 years. As a black female therapist, I am passionate about helping, motivating, and empowering others reach their fullest potential. I am dedicated to increasing access to needed social services and resources, especially in the area of mental health and life skills. I've got time today!
The Inspiration
I believe that it is the divine right of all people to have a sound mind. So much in life can disrupt our divine right to a sound mind, and I believe it is my gift and purpose to facilitate the journey of people achieving a sound mind, peace, power, and love. You can expect my full attention and patience with unpacking your special and unique history so that we can make connections to the present moment.
The Goal
Mental health disorder, systemic oppression, violence, trauma, poverty, and toxic generational habits and responses within our family units, are just a few of the experiences in life that can disrupt our peace. I hope that Of Sound Mind can help people achieve mental, emotional, and spiritual wellness and self-confidence by learning strategies that help them live a balanced life. Healthy people create healthy families, healthy families create healthy communities, healthy communities create a healthy world.
